Dealer could be trying to avoid a warranty repair on the original work. I decided to tackle the oil leak from the front spool valve assembly on the 2009 Ody EX-L. Bought the gasket set from Amazon ( Link) and went to work. To clean off the built up oil sludge prior to removal, I sprayed the area heavily with Purple Power degreaser and brake cleaner, then washed off with hot water. Ask Your Own Honda Question. Warm water + soap + pump (pressurize) and then spray around with engine hot. I keep the spray pointed instead of wide.
